With Thanksgiving coming up this week, it only makes sense to write a letter of thanks, but how can I choose what to write about when there are a million things I am so very grateful for?? My life is full of blessings, but today I have decided to thank myself. I think that often times we are so hard on ourselves that we forget to thank ourselves for all that we do, even for our small daily victories. So, thank you, you.
Thank you for getting up every single morning, even when that early alarm makes you want to cry, and it is far too cold outside of the covers. Thank you for getting dressed and going to class, even if its raining or the wind is blowing so hard it could literally knock you down. Even if its a day when you’re wearing the baggiest clothes you own that don’t match one bit. Even when your hair is thrown up in a bun and you don’t wear a bit of makeup to hide those tired eyes. Even if its a day when you cannot keep yourself focused so you sit in class and doodle. At least you made it. Thank you for making it.
Thank you for being willing; willing to help others, willing to try new things, willing to adventure. Thank you for applying yourself to every task you take on; for spending the necessary time studying and getting your schoolwork finished. For doing your fair share in group projects. For being an overachiever. Thanks for going to work everyday, and for helping out however you can with whatever needs to be done at the end of the day. Thank you for being so very patient with every person, and every situation. Thank you for putting on your tennis shoes and getting to the gym, even when you’re feeling lazy and don’t do too much. Thank you for cleaning the kitchen, and your bedroom, and your bathroom. Thank you for getting things done, even when you don’t want to.
Thank you for being Miss Optimistic. Not only do you look for the good in every situation, but you help those around you do the same. You’ve been through a lot, but you have yet to let any of the negatives and down falls control your life. And thank you for being silly, and bubbly, and for not taking life too seriously. Thank you for taking care of yourself. Thank you for being brave enough to change your mind. Thank you for being YOU.
And thank you, readers, for being you. If you have time this week to write a thank you letter to yourself, or at least think about it, you should. We live in such a busy and fast-paced world, we tend to take advantage of many things, including ourselves. Give yourself some credit, you’ve made it this far haven’t you?
Next time you think of beautiful things, don’t forget to count yourself in.
Have a wonderful week, and a wonderful Thanksgiving!
